Why Chiropractic?

Health From Within

Chiropractic is a philosophy, science, and art rooted in the principle of vitalism. Vitalism is the principle that life is innately intelligent. The plant that cranes towards the sun’s rays seeking nourishment, the caterpillar that morphs into the butterfly, and the acorn that grows into the mighty oak are all examples of the intelligent nature of life.

As living beings, our bodies are brilliant. We develop from two half cells into a newborn baby in just 9-10 months. We digest and assimilate common food so as to be transformed into the living, loving, thinking flesh of our bodies. Our hearts beat, our lungs breathe, our temperatures and pH levels are tightly regulated, and our hormones remain in precise balance without our even having to be consciously aware. When you think about it this way, life is pretty amazing!

The art of chiropractic is based upon the

key scientific fact that all of this bodily

function and healing is ultimately

integrated and regulated by one bodily

system: the central nervous system. The

central nervous system consists of the

brain and spinal cord. Most everyone is

aware that the brain is the master control

center of the body. The body’s organs

and tissues communicate nerve signals to

inform the brain of the body’s current state

and needs. The brain is then able to

precisely regulate and control all the

workings of the body by sending nerve

signals to the organs and tissues. It is this

brain-body relationship through the

bi-directional flow of nerve supply that

comprises the most essential element of

health and well-being.

The purpose of chiropractic is to take

care of the central nervous system in all

people, consistently, from birth until death in order to keep the brain in ideal regulation and control of all bodily function, and to allow health and life to be optimally expressed. In this way, neurologically-focused chiropractic care is offered not as a treatment or therapy, but as the foundation of true health care over a lifetime.
